Writing Laysara trophy guide
I've been working on a trophy guide for the game Laysara: Summit Kingdom. I had so much fun playing this game. The platinum trophy isn't attainable yet on PlayStation, but I'm hopeful for a patch soon. Then I'll finish my guide and submit it for publication.
I enjoy writing trophy guides, especially for games I enjoyed that have a sort of puzzle quality to them. I like taking my time figuring out how to get the trophy, making notes about how I did it and what helped or would have made it easier. This time I really tried to improve my formatting for the guide too. I don't usually pay a lot of attention to the formatting, but I had a lot of pictures for this guide, so I tried some new techniques.
Laysara was interesting as a city builder because it's kind of vertical building. Not completely, but kind of. You build on different mountain plateaus at different heights and they have different qualities. The music and art style are really pleasant. I'm looking forward to finishing the last couple trophies when the patch comes out. I feel like in a lot of city builders I spend a lot of time fast forwarding, just getting money and waiting for problems. But with Laysara I'd say I spent more time paused than advancing time, which was interesting.
It was more like a puzzle game than a city builder in a lot of ways, especially the challenges. I think that surprised some people, who disliked not being able to turn buildings. I liked the challenge of finding good building layout within the limits of their shape and the mountain. I've definitely played more hours writing the guide than I would have otherwise. Here's hoping the patch comes out soon, I'm ready to finish this little project!
